The Indianapolis unemployment rate of 4.5 compares favorably with Indiana’s 5.0 and the nation’s 6.0. Compared to a year ago, the metro area experienced employment declines in manufacturing, services, and the financial sector, while employment was up in wholesale/retail trade, transportation and public utilities, and government which gained about 11,000 jobs since July.
